More Belizeans charged in human smuggling ring

By BBN Staff: In connection with the case of the Hondurans smuggled into Belize, police have charged five more persons.

They are Neysa Gomez,  25, Joanna Arrevallo, 19, Felicito Galvez, 34, Enrique Morales, 39 and Ervin Arrevallo, 26.

Yesterday before Magistrate Emmerson Banner, they maintained their innocence and were offered and met bail of $3,000.

They are to return to court on September 17.

Police reported that on Tuesday they received reports of a human trafficking ring in action.

As such, they set up a checkpoint near Crooked Tree and intercepted two vehicles carrying several undocumented Hondurans.

Human services employee, Sergio Guerra, and Benque Viejo resident, Edwin Nah, were initially charged during this bust.
