San Pedro man fined for a second drug trafficking offense

Posted: Sunday, July 14, 2019. 5:41 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Mario Trotman, 42, of San Pedro Town, was convicted once again of drug trafficking, but for a second time was spared jail.

On Thursday, police recovered 14.6 grams of crack cocaine found inside a refrigerator at Trotman’s San Juan area residence.

More than a decade ago, Trotman was convicted for marijuana he says was not his.

This time, he admitted to using the substance to help with knee and back problems.

Trotman pleaded guilty to possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply, equated to drug trafficking, though he maintained it was for his personal use alone.

Facing a fine of $10,000 and at least three years in prison, Trotman was instead fined $1,500 by Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson, who did not count the original conviction due to the passage of time.

He was ordered to pay by early January 2020 in default, 1-year imprisonment.
