One suspect detained for home invasion of Mayor of San Ignacio & Santa Elena

By BBN Staff: Authorities have detained one suspect pending their investigations into the home invasion of Earl Trapp, the Mayor of San Ignacio and Santa Elena which occurred last night in San Ignacio Town.

Mayor Trapp told police that he was at home sleeping when his wife woke him up and informed him that there were police officers at the door who wanted to see him.

Trapp saw 3 men dressed in full camouflage military-type uniform.

One of them told Trapp that they were police officers on patrol.

When Trapp opened his door,  one of the men told him that he was under arrest.

The culprits stole items from Trapp’s residence and then escaped.

Trapp was transported to the San Ignacio Town Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and was later released. 

Police investigation continues.
