BBN’s Journalist to participate in training on Financial Forensics

Posted: Friday, July 26, 2019. 4:57 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) is hosting a training for journalists as part of its Organized Crime and Reporting Project.

A member of the Breaking Belize News team, journalist Zoila Gonzalez will participate in the training, which is fully sponsored by the ICFJ.

ICFJ launched the Organized Crime and Reporting Project and featured an online financial forensics course. During the course, journalists examined scenarios of money laundering and learned to recognize ‘red flags’ in bank audits.

The training is being hosted to expand journalists’ ability to use digital tools and reporting methods to identify and track financial fraud across borders.

Gonzalez will join other journalists from across the region at the training.

ICFJ is a non-profit, professional organization located in Washington, D.C., United States, that promotes journalism worldwide.

ICFJ works at the nexus of journalism and technology, building the expertise and storytelling skills of reporters worldwide.

Through ICFJ’s work, journalists are enhancing news coverage and connecting more deeply with their audiences.
