By BBN Staff: Police are trying to determine if Porfilio Nino, 65, the farmer from Yo Creek who was killed and buried on his property actually wrote a note that accused a man of being responsible for his death.
Police say they found a note that is purportedly written by Nino, explaining that he had a dispute with a man and that if anything happened to him that the person should be considered a suspect.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett told the media this week that police are trying to make certain that it was Nino that wrote the note before they take any action in that regard.
Nino’s daughter reported him missing on Monday after she tried to make contact with him but was unsuccessful. That same day police, accompanied by Nino’s family, searched the farm and found a prosthetic leg belonging to Nino. Further checks the following day led to the discovery of his body in a shallow grave 100 yards from the farm.
Nino’s post mortem examination confirmed that he died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Police have detained several persons in connection with the incident.
