New police recruits to join academy by August 15, 2019

By BBN Staff: Recently, hundreds of Belizeans sat the examination to become a member of the Belize Police Department.

Today, Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, told the press that only 190 applicants will be selected.

He says the next squad is to assume residence at the training academy by August 15.

According to Williams, this batch of officers will undertake a system of training he saw in Jamaica.

For example, they will spend three months at the academy and then another 9 months in the fields before graduating.

According to him, he hopes that the new recruits will not fall victim to the vices of many career cops.
