Police hold conference on improving crime fighting strategies

By BBN Staff: Today the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, held a conference with his senior officers at the police training academy in Belmopan.

According to him, this is for senior members of the department to join in sharing advice on crime-fighting strategies.

Williams added that today’s conference is also to share with his senior command, the direction of the department and to have them share feedback on how to better serve the public.

When the press indicated that many in the department were disillusioned and discontented following a recent promotional ceremony, Williams disagreed.

According to Williams, he has been very fair in his leadership but there can’t be only “chiefs” and no “Indians.”

He explained that while there were some officers who were fit for promotion the vacancies were limited.

To those officers, he offered consolation that their time will eventually come.
