Bandits defeated 3-1 by Deportivo Saprissa from Costa Rica

By Aaron Humes: The visiting Purple Monsters of Deportivo Saprissa handcuffed the Belmopan Bandits at home by a final score of 3-1. If the first half was a showcase of attacking display, the second was more defensive, especially by Saprissa, who were content to defend their two-goal lead and take it back to Costa Rica.

The best chance of the second half came from a Jeffery James shot that hit the goalpost and was later followed by a direct shot from Trevor Lennon that hit the crossbar. Thereafter Saprissa snuffed out every attempt by the Bandits’ duo of Jerry Palacio and Georgie Welcome to score another goal on the scoreboard.

Now the national football champs will have it all to do in Costa Rica to overturn a two goal lead and keep alive their CONCACAF League dreams. The return match is scheduled for next week Wednesday, 7^th August.
