Police officer charged for death of Alyson Major to be arraigned this morning

By BBN Staff: Today, police corporal Kent Martinez is expected to appear in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court to answer to a charge of ‘Manslaughter by Negligence’ for the shooting death of Alyson Major.

The media is currently posted outside the courthouse waiting for Martinez to be brought to court.

Major was shot and killed in downtown Belize City; however, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions did not give a directive to charge Cpl. Martinez until July 30, following the results of a special investigation.

Police say Martinez was formally arrested and charged this morning.
