Southern Environmental Association conduct Strategic Planning Session

Posted: Wednesday, July 31, 2019. 2:19 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Since the formation of the Southern Environmental Association (SEA) in 2008, protected areas management for Laughing Bird Caye National Park (LBCNP) and the Gladden Spit and Silk Cayes Marine Reserve (GSSCMR) has progressed with the guidance of a series of Organizational Strategic Plans.

Multiple activities have taken place in the recent years including the restructuring of SEA’s Board of Directors (BOD), the development of a Resource Mobilization Plan, the completion of Protected Areas Management Plans and the appointment of personnel to fill in all program area managerial positions.

All of these activities are directly linked to achieving key objectives of improving the efficiency of the organization; improving financial sustainability and ensuring the effective, cohesive execution of program area activities.

In line with these objectives, on July 19, 2019, a strategic planning session was held for SEA’s BOD and staff.

This activity was a necessary component in strategically aligning the organization and its respective program areas to the organizational mission and vision. Sub-activities completed includes Program Area SWOT analysis, identifying strategic issues and developing strategic actions.

One of the final outputs of this strategic planning process will be a five-year Organizational Strategic Plan. SEA anticipates that through this new Organizational Strategic Plan, that the implementation of strategic actions will commence over the next few months.

SEA thanks its stakeholders, donors, and partners for their continued support in marine conservation and hopes to continue to have a long-lasting productive relationship.
