By BBN Staff: Belize City police have issued a report on the accident in which a vehicle plunged into the Belize River near Swing Bridge in Belize City yesterday.
According to the report just before 9:00 a.m. Jasmine Smith, 22, and a female minor were driving in a red Kia Sportage SUV on North Front Street from a south to north direction.
Upon approaching the swing bridge, she alleged that her vehicle experienced a brake failure.
As a result she collided into a motorcycle that was being driven by Cordell Baptist, 38.
Baptist was coming off the bridge and en route to -Queen Street.
This collision caused Smith to turn towards the river and then collided into a parked Jeep Cherokee.
Thereafter she landed in the river and had to be fished out.
