Trinidad attorney Chelsea Stewart joins Belize Bar

Posted: Monday, August 12, 2019. 4:22 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Chelsea Justine Stewart, 27, is the newest member of the Belize Bar, approved by Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin on Wednesday last.

Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Ms. Stewart has joined the law firm of Glenn D. Godfrey and Company to practice in civil litigation, corporate and commercial law; public and administrative law; constitutional law and real estate.

The alumnus of the University of the West Indies at St. Augustine, Trinidad and the Hugh Wooding School of Law moves over from Freedom Law Chambers, where she was junior to former Trinidad and Tobago Attorney General and parliamentarian Anand Ramlogan, Senior Counsel.

She has also worked in the Trinidad Attorney General’s Ministry.

Stewart’s application was supported by Godfrey, fellow Senior Counsel Lisa Shoman and junior attorney Marissa Longsworth.

Stewart told our colleagues at Amandala that she looked forward to the slower, less “city-like” pace of life in Belize as opposed to the twin-island republic, and the different challenges she will face here.
