Orange Walk Town council notifies of new parade route

Posted: Tuesday, August 13, 2019. 4:26 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Orange Walk Town Council issued a statement today informing the public of the new parade route.

The council says that after meeting with the Police, Traffic and Fire departments and the Belize Defence Force, it was agreed that the Independence Day Parade route would be slightly altered.

The route was reviewed due to high congestion in the downtown area.

The new parade route will be as follows:

Parade will move from the Orange Walk Central Park South on Queen Victoria Avenue into the Philip Goldson highway Turn Left into Liberty Avenue and then Right into Sarstoon Street, then right into Phillip Goldson Highway moving north and then turn left into Guadalupe Street. At the end of Guadalupe street the parade will enter briefly into San Antonio Road before going north on Dunn Street.

At the end of Dunn Street the Parade will enter right into Cinderella street to move in an easterly direction where at the end it will enter Queen Victoria Avenue to end at the Orange Walk Central Park.

“This change is important as we are very keen in the protection of our children, adults and all our visitors. We assure you that as this is new we may embrace it as a form of safety for all,” the council said.
