Farmers attend Sheep Management and Leather Tanning Workshop

By BBN Staff: The Department of Cooperatives in collaboration with Taiwan ended today it’s 3-day workshop on Sheep Management and Leather Tanning today.

The workshop was attended by 40 farmers from the Corozal and Cayo Districts.

The workshop began on August 12, 2019, and was hosted at the Central Farm Agriculture Conference Room.

The objective of the program was to train sheep farmers in sheep management, improvement of sheep genetics and leather tanning as an innovative approach to sheep production.

The training also focused in improving the management practices and the improvement of genetic stocks in Belize as a mean of improving farm management practices and sheep production efficiencies for improved competitiveness.

At the closing of the workshop, the Corozal Sheep farmers were officially registered as the Corozal United Sheep Producers Cooperative Society Limited.

 The Cayo Farmers are encouraged to register as a formal organization to supply the domestic and international demand for sheep products.
