By BBN Staff: The People’s United Party (PUP) in a Facebook post this morning, warned its followers and supporters of a fake Facebook profile which is being used to tarnish the party’s reputation.

“It has come to our knowledge that a fake True Blue page under the name ‘True Blue Belize’ has been appearing on social media. The PUP would like to inform the public that this is a fake FB page and does not represent the Party’s views and or policies,” the statement on the official True Blue PUP page said.

In recent weeks, a number of political figures on both sides of the spectrum have issued statements warning of fake or unofficial pages purporting to be that of various ministers and representatives including Prime Minister Dean Barrow, Governor General Sir Colville Young, as well as ministers Erwin Contreras, Hugo Patt, Wilfred Elrington, Frank Mena and Carla Barnett.

BBN advises all readers and followers to be cautious and wary of inaccurate or fake information online, which unfortunately has become all too easy to produce and disseminate. Trust only information from credible and official sources.
