By Aaron Humes: The National Women’s U-17 side gave a good account of themselves in a battling display with hosts Barbados this evening, finishing with a 1-1 draw.
Jesselle Conorquie had the easiest of scores for the opener on 56 minutes, beating the onrushing goalkeeper after a yellow card was handed out to Bajan captain Ashley Stevenson for hauling back a Belize player in midfield during an attack.
But Stevenson made amends after Belize gave up a penalty on a handball in the 80th minute.
Earlier, group members St. Kitts and Nevis beat U.S. Virgin Islands to top the group.
The next games are on Friday as Belize face USVI, then St. Kitts on Sunday.
The group winner is one of four final entries to the U-17 CONCACAF Women’s Championship next year.
Games can be seen on the Trident Barbados channel on YouTube.
