Meeting to “SAVE THE MACAL RIVER” to be held on Friday

By BBN Staff: Residents of San Ignacio and Santa Elena are organizing a ‘Save the River’ meeting to be held on Friday, August 23, 2019.

The meeting will be held at 7 pm at Hode’s Place in San Ignacio.

The Macal River is slowly dying and residents are seeking the assistance of the public and the relevant authorities to help save the river.

The Macal River was known to once attract many visitors to its pristine waters joining the Twin Towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena.

It is also the venue for the start of the annual La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge that brings Belizeans countrywide as well as visitors from around the world to enjoy the canoe race.

The public is invited to the meeting on Friday.
