The system is housed and managed at the Ministry of Natural Resources and is designed to collect, store and disseminate relevant geographic data to the private and public sectors, academic institutions, and non-governmental organizations.

This platform is expected to help improve data quality and transparency in data sharing while avoiding duplication.

BNSDI is an instrument of significance to Belize’s socio-economic development, in areas such as natural resource management, flood mitigation, environmental restoration, land use assessments, and disaster recovery, etc.
