Dengue cases increasing at alarming rate

By BBN Staff: The Office of the Director of Health services is closely monitoring dengue cases in Belize.

Current data up to week 34 indicate that the total number of dengue cases countrywide is at 2,272 cases.

Out of the total number, 1,232 were confirmed and 1,040 the diagnosis was made by clinical suspicion.

Cayo and Stann Creek districts have seen increasing numbers.

Numbers have stabilized in the northern districts and lower numbers are being reported in the Belize and Toledo districts.

“Our surveillance continues to be on alert and the work in vector control continues,” the statement says.

The public is advised to be on the alert for Dengue and Dengue Hemorraghic Fever.

 You are encouraged to eliminate mosquito breeding sites which exist in and around homes.
