Man dies in traffic accident on the Southern Highway

By BBN Staff: Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the death of one man in a road traffic accident on the Southern Highway yesterday.

Police say that they responded to a call around 2 p.m. to find Gregory Perez, 37, a mechanic of Punta Gorda Town, laying in a drain on the right side of the road between miles 63 and 64.

Reports are that Perez was headed from Punta Gorda Town towards Independence Village along with another person when allegedly he lost control of the motorcycle and was flung into the drain. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Punta Gorda Hospital.

His body remains at the morgue in Punta Gorda where medical officers will conduct a post mortem examination.
