2019-2020 Academic Year in full swing 

By BBN Staff: Today, with the opening of pre and primary schools across the country, the 2019-2020 Academic Year is now in full swing. 

 
Thousands of students countrywide are headed to schools today, some for the very first time, while others mark the beginning of their primary school journey. Teachers across the country, have been preparing their classrooms, some since the month of August began, to receive their students for a new year of learning.

 
The majority of those teachers financed the bulk of their classroom decorations themselves, with help from their school management in some cases. The Belize National Teachers Union has said that teachers spending their own money on their classrooms is an issue which needs to be addressed with the Ministry of Education and has committed to doing so.
