Prisoner passes away at KHMH

Posted: Monday, September 2, 2019. 6:05 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Jahangir Abadi was serving a prison sentence for abetment to murder.

However, on Saturday he passed away.

Sources close to Abadi told our newsroom that he had developed complications related to diabetes and was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Sadly he never recuperated.

In 2016, Abadi made the news when he and Bradley Paumen were charged for a plot to kill Michael Modiri Abadi.

Attorney at Law, Arthur Saldivar, has maintained that Abadi was innocent.

He took to social media today to say, “I expect Jahan to be exonerated, as a child growing up in Belmopan I remember when he first came from Iran and moved into his home on Sapodilla Street, the language was a challenge but Jahan never allowed that to impede his desire to communicate and participate in his chosen community. He was kind, generous and considerate and as I grew up in age and responsibility so did our friendship.”

“Who gets punished when the system kills you? Who provides for your family when they take you away? Many have suffered this fate and still the questions go unanswered,” he added.
