By Aaron Humes: A father and son are imprisoned, charged with offenses relating to illegal entry to Belize.

The father, 64-year-old Hector Manuel Rosa Perez, pleaded guilty to improperly assisting his son, an illegal entrant, to stay in Belize by transporting him in a vehicle.

The son, 30-year-old Danny Manuel Rosa De Larca, is accused of not producing his visitor’s permit.

Before Magistrate Emmerson Banner, Hector conceded that he entered Belize on Monday, September 2, through the western border, and brought in his son the following day, September 3, on an expired passport.

He pleaded guilty and was fined a thousand dollars due immediately, in default six months’ imprisonment which he is now serving.

Danny was read a single charge of failure to produce a visitor’s permit to an immigration officer on demand. He too pleaded guilty and was slapped with the same fine of $1,000 and is likewise imprisoned after not being able to come up with the money.

The men, along with Hector’s wife and Danny’s mother Rosa Nelli De Larca Flores came in the same vehicle and the couple assisted Danny to enter Belize with the use of a coyote who met them during their travelling and upon reaching their destination.
