By BBN Staff: Today is being commemorated as Literacy Day.
The Ministry of Education and schools countrywide planned interactive reading activities for all students.
Various schools celebrated with character day, story telling activities, and teaching children the importance of literacy.
Santa Elena Primary School hosted their award ceremony for outstanding students who excelled in the 2018-2019 school year.
The event was integrated with Literacy Day which is being celebrated under the theme, “Read and Write to Succeed… Mentor a child”.
Story telling was done by Luis Gentle, a former teacher of the school and an exemplary educator from Santa Elena Town.
BBN’s Zoila Gonzalez also shared an Anansi story with the students.
