Belize needs “heart” for competition in CONCACAF, says coach after defeat

Posted: Monday, September 9, 2019. 2:17 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes : Vincenzo Annese and his players faced up to the agony of Sunday’s defeat, after a game which hung in the balance till the bitter end.
Midfielder Nana Mensah acknowledged the Jaguars got “complacent” after Deon McCauley’s goal, and allowed Grenada to turn the contest uptempo and physical.
But as the Jaguars swallow the “bitters” and get ready for St. Kitts and Nevis, the coach says the team must have opportunities to mesh and jell, the standards in the Premier League need to be upped, and generally Belize must play with heart and determination.
In related news, Belize has appealed the decision of the CONCACAF Disciplinary Committee to hand out a 3-0 loss for failing to appear for Thursday’s game versus French Guiana.
