Major power outage: El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala

By BBN Staff: Univision.com is reporting that at least 4 Central American countries are suffering from a major power outage today.

Official agencies and local media reported that the blackout affected El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

According to the report, the failure in electrical system originated in Honduras and Nicaragua.

Honduran authorities confirmed that the blackout was due to a “problem with the interconnection with Nicaragua.”

The officials confirmed that they are working to restore the system.

Guatemalan authorities confirmed to Prensa Libre that the blackout was regional but said he didn’t know the origin of the problem.

Salvadoran authorities said that they are evaluating the origin to find solutions.
