Belize Youth Movement: Take action now!

Posted: Tuesday, September 17, 2019. 2:41 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Youth Arm of the PUP, Belize Youth Movement  (BYM) issued a statement today expressing its sympathy for the families of Adamir Choc, Herman Valladares, and Gruver Delgado.

These three young lives were senselessly lost in just a matter of days, according to BYM.

“There are many factors that contribute to this growing problem. These include economic inequality, a lack of education and meaningful employment, the failure to address a culture of misogyny and toxic masculinity, and to top it off, a seriously underfunded and               underperforming criminal justice system,” the statement expressed.

The group says that most Belizeans have lost faith in Belize’s justice system’s ability to find and prosecute those who commit these constantly increasing  acts of violence.

BYM then accuses the Minister of National Security and the Government of failing Belizeans.

“This  government has failed us, and we can no longer leave them in control of our safety and well-being,” the statement expressed.
