Police: Mother, 58, shot and killed at point blank range

By BBN Staff: Sometime around 8:30 last night, San Ignacio police visited Perez Road in Santa Elena Town.

There, they saw Mirna Young, 58, suffering from a gunshot wound to her chest.

They also saw Angel Martinez suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower back.

They were both transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital where Young succumbed to her injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Martinez was at Young’s residence socializing with her son, Minor Galindo.

That was when two men on a motorcycle approached them.

One of the motorcyclists pulled out a firearm and opened fire at the duo who attempted to run away with the gunman in hot pursuit.

Upon hearing the gunshots, Young emerged at the front door when the gunman pointed the gun at her and fired.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvette, all angles are being investigated in this shooting.
