Verdes issues statement in defense of player arrested for murder investigation

By BBN Staff:  Today, Verdes FC football club issued a statement in defense of one of their players who has been detained for a murder investigation that happened in Santa Elena, Cayo.

Verdes says that Wendel Trapp is a player of their team and that at the time of the incident on Wednesday, September 18 around 8:30 pm, Trapp was at the FFB football stadium in Belmopan playing a match ‘El Clasico’ versus the Belmopan Bandits.

According to the statement from the football club, Trapp was injured on his knee in a training the night before and those injuries were treated at the Western Regional Hospital.

Nonetheless, Trapp was reportedly arrested on September 20, 2019 and as such, Verdes FC attempted to explain it to the San Ignacio police the whereabouts of Trapp.

The football team is calling on the police to address the matter urgently since according to them, the Trapp family is being unjustly threatened.

The San Ignacio police are currently investigating the murder of Mirna Young.

On September 18, 2019, around 8:30 pm, 2 men on a motorcycle entered the home of Young and shot her and Angel Martinez.

Young died while receiving treatment while Martinez is listed in a stable condition.

Young is the mother of Jorge Galindo who was charged for the murder of Nelson “Quacky” Flores.
