By Aaron Humes: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) is under official warning of disqualification from the CONCACAF Nations League after its disciplinary committee upheld the initial decision to award a forfeit to French Guiana for the game abandoned on September 5.
It also will not be paid the US $50,000 travel allowance for the upcoming match away to St. Kitts and Nevis and warned that if it is no-show again, Belize will be kicked out of the competition.
A few minutes ago the Federation released portions of the decision, noting that it is considering a further appeal.
FFB are found to have been “responsible and accountable” for not having the match played and in breach of articles 7.6 to 7.9 of the FIFA disciplinary code concerning withdrawal from and abandoned matches.
The Federation had claimed it’s chartered plane was damaged when being moved to safety ahead of what would become Hurricane Dorian at the end of August, and then it’s replacement couldn’t gain clearance to enter French Guiana. The match was awarded 3-0 to French Guiana.
Belize have no points and sit bottom of their group after losing 2-1 to Grenada on September 8. Belize will host St. Kitts on Thursday, October 10 then travel to the island for the return on October 13.
