By Aaron Humes: Authorities are under fire after an accused female who was being taken back to jail after a court appearance put up quite the fight, managing to briefly escape the long arm of the law.

According to 7 News, the accused was in court in connection with an arson report at the Youth Hostel and at the corner of Pinks Alley and North Front Street near downtown. She escaped the van and fought police officers, males and a female, trying to get away.

A crowd surrounded the scuffle and when officers could be heard threatening her with obscene language, demanded they stop treating her like an animal.

From the video, as the police work to handcuff the accused, she is seen straining and lashing out, throwing a headbutt at one of the officers, who then appears to slam her head back against the metal door of the police vehicle, though the sound could have also been another girl inside who was slamming to get out.

Eventually, she is handcuffed but once again breaks free and goes after the officers, at which point one puts her in a tight chokehold, earning ire from area residents.

We understand that she and another female in the vehicle managed to escape briefly but were recaptured.
