By BBN Staff: Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber, who also has the portfolio responsible for youth, says that he will not be quick to condemn the Belize Police Department for their actions in a video now viral on social media, showing two officers forcefully detaining a female minor, because he does not have the full details of the situation.
Faber said that he has not seen the video personally and has not been fully briefed on the situation but has been told that the minor has behavioral problems and was at the youth hostel for that reason.
Faber stressed that the police being called to the youth hostel is not a new phenomenon and that they are called whenever some behavioral problems get out of control.
“I don’t know all of those details and I don’t feel comfortable enough to condemn the police in this regard and again, the police have a job to do,” Faber said.
Faber also appealed to the public to withhold making negative comments about the police on social media, noting that the police are charged with the protection of all Belizeans and have a lot to deal with.
