Belize not under any imminent storm threat

Posted: Sunday, September 29, 2019. 10:12 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Our newsroom has received several queries regarding the validity of
information being circulated that Belize is in danger of being hit by a typhoon in the upcoming week.

Breaking Belize News clarifies that the information is false and takes this time to remind the public that a Typhoon is a weather phenomenon that occurs in the Pacific Ocean, not the Atlantic, as such Belize will not likely be under threat of a Typhoon.

There is a massive storm, Hurricane Lorenzo, currently being monitored in the Atlantic, but again, this storm is not expected to be a threat
to Belize. Lorenzo stands as a Category 4 Hurricane as of today, having been downgraded from the Category 5 status that it had reached yesterday evening. Lorenzo’sprojected path is expected to find it
somewhere near the United Kingdom towards the end of the week, but weather experts have agreed that it poses no threat to any landmass at this time.

BBN will continue to inform its readers on pertinent weather activity sas the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season draws slowly to a close.
