Bandits, Verdes keep up pace in Premier League

By Aaron Humes: Belmopan Bandits and Verdes FC move closer to securing playoff slots with just six weeks to go in the Opening Season of the Premier League of Belize.

Bandits defeated Placencia Assassins 1-0 while Verdes shut down Wagiya 2-0.

Elsewhere Belize Defence Force shipped four past Freedom Fighters/Valley Pride and on Saturday, San Pedro Pirates and Altitude played to a 1-1 draw.

Bandits and Verdes remain 1-2 and unbeaten this season. Each have 21 points; Altitude are third with 14; BDF are next with 13, then San Pedro with 10 and Wagiya with nine, then Placencia with six and Valley Pride with one.

Next week’s games before the international break are as follows:

Altitude vs Bandits, October 5, 7:30, Michael Ashcroft Stadium, Independence

Placencia vs San Pedro, October 6, 3:30, Placencia Football Field, Placencia

BDF vs Wagiya, October 6, 4:00, MCC Grounds, Belize City

Valley Pride vs Verdes, October 6, 4:00, Carl Ramos Stadium, Dangriga
