By BBN Staff: Music Ambassador Shyne Barrow handed over drums and cymbals to the St. John Vianney band on the South Side of Belize City.
The primary school students were ecstatic to have the new instruments.
Vice Principal Jones says, “As a part of our SIP (School Improvement Plan), mission and vision: to develop each student holistically ensuring that students are skillful as well as academically inclined; we are presently working on forming a school marching band. We are quite aware of the societal challenges our students face and mindful of the need to develop their natural aptitude for music.”
She continued “We believe that by building such capacities we may help in the development of other
areas such as Literacy and Numeracy.”
“We are therefore are extremely grateful to our Music Ambassador, Shyne Barrow, for the donation instruments.”
Barrow says he does his “very best to uphold the commitment of the Government of Belize to support all Musicians across the country especially those in school.”
He explained that the 3rd quarter will see him focus on promoting music in schools in particular instruments as he “would like to see more instrumentalists and live bands make up our
emerging music industry.”
