Ministry of Natural Resources implement Partial Remission of Land Tax Arrears Program

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of  Natural Resources today informed that it will be implementing The Partial Remission of Land Tax Arrears Program(2019/2020), also referred to as the “Land Tax Amnesty Programme.”

This program allows landowners who owe land taxes the opportunity to settle or manage their tax arrears during a six-month period commencing Monday, October 7, 2019.

Benefits of the program include a 25% discount on the outstanding tax for each financial year and the waiver of interest on discounted arrears.

Conditions of the programme:

Full acknowledgment by the landowner of the total arrears before the discount.

You can participate in the programme if you are an owner of land situated outside of a city or town.

Payment in full of the discounted arrears for each year before the end of the six-month period.

Failure to settle arrears within the six-month period will result in the account reflecting all arrears outstanding prior to the commencement of the program.

Persons interested in participating can visit the Ministry of Natural Resources headquarters in Belmopan or any of the Lands and Surveys District Offices.

For arrears of BZ$20,000 or more, persons are asked to visit the Ministry of Natural Resources in Belmopan.
