Mexico invites Belize to participate in upcoming Agriculture expo

By BBN Staff: Mexico’s National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (CANACO-SERVYTUR) is inviting Belizeans in the agricultural sector to participate in the in the upcoming Pro Agro-Innovation Expo, to be held on October 23-25.

The Expo, to be held at the Chetumal City Convention Center on October, is being opened to Belizean agricultural entrepreneurs to, businessmen, farmers and agro-processors.

Mexico’s Ambassador Carlos Melendez Quesnel hosted a high-level Mexican trade delegation at the Institute of Mexico in Belize City yesterday, to officially extend the invitation.

Thelmo Manuel Rejon Montalvo,CANACO-SERVYTUR Vice President of Border Trade, explained that Belizean food producers have an opportunity at the expo to present their products to a number of chefs from Mexican hotels that will be attending the expo; while CANACO-SERVYTUR-Chetumal president Eloy Quintal Jimenez, admitted that obtaining the required permits and other documents may be difficult given the short notice, but that Belizeans will be accommodated next year. 

Belize’s participation in the expo falls in line with deiberate moves being made by Belizean touris industry stakeholders such as the Belize Tourism Board and Belize Tourism Industry Association, which have been
working with their counterparts in Mexico to increase Belize’s exxposure to attract more visitors.
