National Hurricane Center is monitoring area of low pressure in the Caribbean

Posted: Saturday, October 12, 2019. 3:13 pm CST.

By BBN Staff:  The National Hurricane Center (NHC) and the National Meteorological Center of Belize are closely monitoring a broad area of low pressure that is expected to form over the southwestern Caribbean Sea this weekend.

The system is forecasted to move westward toward Central America early next week, and some development is possible if it moves over the northwestern Caribbean Sea near the coasts of Honduras, Guatemala, and Belize.

The NHC says that regardless of development, this system could bring heavy rains to portions of Central America late this weekend through early next week.

There is a 20 percent chance of formation through the next 5 days.
