Heavy rains with possibility of flooding expected during the next 24 hours

Posted: Monday, October 14, 2019. 12:17 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The National Meteorological Service of Belize continues to monitor an approaching area of low pressure which will support showery weather during the next 24 to 36 hours.

Skies will be cloudy to overcast with some out breaks of showers and thunderstorms over most areas.

The extended outlook for Belize and the coastal waters is for showers and thunder storms to decrease on Tuesday and affect mostly Northern areas.

The approaching area of low pressure will continue to produce heavy rainfall with the possibility of flooding especially near rivers and streams in the south and over other low-lying flood-prone areas across the country.

Heavy rains will continue over most areas on Monday and Monday night.

Residents in these areas should be on the alert for the possibility of flooding.

A small craft caution is in effect for squally conditions near heavy showers and thunderstorms.
