Low pressure system not likely to develop any further; heavy rains still forecasted tonight for Belize

Posted: Monday, October 14, 2019. 9:06 pm CST.

By BBN Staff:  The National Meteorological Service of Belize continues to monitor a broad area of low pressure located inland over northwestern Honduras.

The system is not likely to develop any further before it crosses southern Belize later tonight.

However, the system will continue to produce heavy rainfall with the possibility of flash flooding over Belize tonight.

The approaching area of low pressure will continue to produce heavy rainfall with the possibility of flooding especially near rivers and streams in the south and over other low-lying flood-prone areas across the country. Residents in these areas should be on the alert for the possibility of flooding.

According to the National Met Service, heavy rains will continue over most areas tonight.

A small craft caution is also in effect particularly near areas receiving heavy showers and thunderstorms.
