Belizean chosen to attend Global Leadership Forum 2019

Alex Cruz is an educator from Stann Creek District.

Cruz is  representing Belize as a teacher in the United States through the Participate Learning Program(PLP).

PLP is  a teacher exchange program which recruits teachers from Latin America to teach in the US for a period of three to five years.

The Leadership Forum is being held in Charlottesville, Virginia at the University of Virginia from October 14-17.

The event is being held under the theme, “Collaborative Solutions for Social Impact.”

The attendees include 24 leaders from the United States and around the world who will delve into the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a blueprint for global peace and prosperity, and examine cases of effective cross-sector partnerships (business, government, universities, nonprofits) that are advancing the SDGs.

Participants will have the opportunity to strengthen their leadership capacities, engage with experts in the field, and build a global professional network of dynamic change makers.

The event is a premier, multi-regional gathering of young professionals.

Each year brings a new program topic, spanning across a week of plenary sessions, small group discussions, breakout workshops, and site visits to community organizations.

Since its launch in 2015, the Global Leadership Forum has convened emerging leaders from 63 countries in every region of the world.

The vision is to believe in the transformative power of visionary leaders to create thriving, just, and free societies.
