Posted: Wednesday, October 16, 2019. 9:05 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Yesterday, the Office of the Special Envoy for Women and Children (SEWC) in partnership with the Belize Cancer Society, launched its 2019 Cancer Awareness Flyer as part of Belize’s activities for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The unveiling of the flyer is a part of an annual event where the office of the SEWC identifies cancer survivors and those currently battling cancer to act as symbols of encouragement to cancer warriors. The flyer is also used as a medium to raise awareness about the dangers of cancer and the importance of self-screening and getting regular checkups.

Production for the flyer started off with the Cancer Awareness Photoshoot, with six participants being taken from Belize City, San Pedro and Dangriga. Those participants were Chelsea Munoz, Zoila Audiniette, Marla Zavala, Shermadine Rowland, Nicole Haylock, and, Rachel Castillo.

The SWEC’s office issued a statement saying that the goal of the flyer is to underscore that cancer knows NO face and that it isn’t something to be ashamed of.

“…there is much JOY and BEAUTY in life DESPITE CANCER,” the statement read.
