New art exhibit opening at the Museum of Belize

Posted: Friday, October 18, 2019. 7:45 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Museum of Belize will be hosting the opening of a brand new art exhibit tonight featuring the work of Taiwanese artist, Yaoling Lee.

The exhibit, which launches at 7 p.m., is one of five solo art exhibitions that Lee has ongoing, and will be followed by a series of workshops where she will teach students and adults the fundamentals of art.

The exhibit, entitled “The river of art flows everywhere,” is a collection of portraits and abstracts all depicting human subjects in media such as charcoal, oil on canvas and watercolor paint.

“I work from life. The main idea of this project is to work from life, that means when I’m working on portraits people sit for me, sometimes three, sometimes six hours,” Lee said.

She has exhibited her work in Taiwan, Europe, Mexico, and Belize. The exhibition is comprised of over 20 paintings, featuring pieces in watercolor, portraits, and figure study. This exhibit is being made possible through funding from the NICH Cultural Development Fund.

The schedule for the workshops are as follows: Saturday, October 26th, Portrait Painting Workshop, Saturday, November 2nd, Motion Drawing Workshop, Saturday, November 9th, – Watercolor Workshop, Saturday, November 16th, Plein Air Workshop. Interested persons can call the Museum of Belize for more information.
