By BBN Staff: Day One of the 2nd Annual Belize Birding Festival kicks off today at the beautiful San Ignacio Resort.
The weekend-long event is held through a collaboration between the Belize Audubon Society (BAS), Belize Hotel Association (BHA) and the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA).
The festival will feature two days of bird watching tours as well as presentations from local and international speakers, including Dr. John Fitzpatrick, Director of Cornell Lab; Serge Arias, CEO of Bird-watching Central America; and Dr. H. Lee Jones Author of the book ‘Birds of Belize.’
The festival will also feature an exhibition floor, where local conservation NGO’s, hotels and related businesses can make displays and use the platform for networking.
The coordinating bodies have promised that this year’s event will be a much grander event than last year, with the addition of the evening cocktail to close out Day One and the grand raffle to close out Day 2.
