By BBN Staff: Debra Baptist Estrada is next in line to become the Director of the Immigration Department.
She will take the reins from Director Diana Locke who presided over the department during the dark days of the senate inquiry.
Although Locke is set for retirement, the succession hasn’t been an easy one.
That is because Estrada who has over two decades of service only has an Associate Degree and is being transferred from the Nationality Section of the Department.
And so those senior colleagues that have higher academic qualifications are left agitated.
However, despite that agitation Estrada has been approved by Cabinet and has in the past been recognized by the United States Embassy in Belize for her integrity at a time when many of her colleagues have had their US Visas revoked.
