3-year-old falls into well and drowns

By BBN Staff: On Saturday, a 3-year-old child from Santa Cruz Village fell into a well and drowned.

According to police reports, Independence police responded to reports that a child was missing.

When they arrived at the home, the mother of the child reported that she was in her outside kitchen cooking and left her 3-year-old son, Oscar Bonilla along with another 2 ½ year old child playing inside of the house.

Shortly before 1pm, she began searching for the child and found him in a well that was filled with water inside the yard.

Neighbors assisted in taking out the child from the well.

He was then transported to the Independence Polyclinic where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
