By BBN Staff: There is more controversy emerging from the sensational murder trial of William “Danny” Mason, as the sworn written testimony of a United States Federal Agent said that Mason claimed he was seeking assistance because he feared he was being framed by Minister of National Security John Saldivar.
The sworn statement was admitted into evidence yesterday, as the trial resumed from a delay lasting several weeks, while the necessary diplomatic clearance was being obtained to use the statement.
The agent noted that he met Mason when he was brought in to assist David Dodd, who had alleged that he had been a victim of extortion carried out by Mason. The agent’s testimony went on to say that when Mason told him about possibly being framed by Saldivar, he advised Mason to get an attorney, but that was the last time he spoke to Mason.
The testimony also noted that Mason identified himself as Guyanese businessman Rajesh Ouellet, one of several names that Mason had official documents and gun licenses for. Other names included Danny Ouellet, Ted Ouellet, and Danny Mason.
The trial continues today, as the attorney for one of the co-accused is preparing to present a piece of photographic evidence to the court. Mason and four others, Ashton Vanegas, Keiron Fernandez, Terrence Fernandez, and Ernest Henry Castillo, stand accused of the brutal decapitation of Dangriga-based pastor Llewely Lucas in 2016.
