Posted: Wednesday, October 23, 2019. 4:10 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The United States (US) Embassy in Belize today announced that there will be a ceremony for the handover of the Emergency Operations Center in Toledo.

The U.S. government funded the costs of the project, valued at over U.S. $233,000, which includes training 35 personnel in the operation of the Emergency Operations Center and 15 personnel in the Disaster Relief Warehouse.

The ceremony will take place on Friday, October 25th at 12 p.m. at NEMO in Emory Grove, Toledo.

The ceremony is the final step of a project sponsored and funded by the U.S. government that provided vital training, furniture, and equipment to the newly constructed Disaster Relief Warehouse and Emergency Operations Center in the Toledo District.

The purpose of the project is to assist the regional government to improve its crisis management capability and disaster response efficiency, in order to better keep the residents of the Toledo District region safe in the event of a disaster or crisis.
