By Aaron Humes: The Belize Under-18 selection made national history today in Costa Rica, advancing to the final four for the first time in its category.

Belize advances to the semifinals of the Central American Football Union (UNCAF) U-18 championship after Costa Rica held closest rivals Panama to a scoreless draw. Belize opened the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Panama. In the second match we lost to hosts Costa Rica 5-1. Then earlier today, a 1-0 victory over Guatemala put us in position to advance pending the Panama result.

Belize also made history in defeating any Guatemalan football selection in any category for the first time; the senior male selection had managed multiple draws but never a win.

Belize next plays El Salvador on Thursday at noon followed by Costa Rica vs. Nicaragua at 3:00 p.m.

Congratulations!
