Posted: Friday, October 25, 2019. 6:31 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Belizeans, Aaron Mai and Nisa Gonzalez both of the Cayo District were today awarded with a Certificate from Hungkuang University in Tourism Hospitality Management.

Mai and Gonzalez were on a 3-month training program sponsored by the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF).

Mai describes the training as being an experience of a life time.

“ The hospitality in Taiwan is first class. I was exposed to a whole new culture and their cuisine was a mix of Chinese, Japanese and the western flair is creeping in slowly,” Mai said.

Mai and Gonzalez had the distinct opportunity to study at the top vocational university in Taiwan, Hungkuang University.

The Belizean trainees also enjoyed the cultural immersion and visited the Taipei 101 landmark.

“My Christian faith is important so I have a church while living here, it’s a great place for mission work because out of 23 million people only 4% are Christians,” Mai added.

Mai was also awarded with 2 honor awards from the university.

The trainees completed 350 hours of training in Taiwan and are returning to Belize on October 31, 2019.

Belize and Taiwan established diplomatic ties in 1989 and have enjoyed strong bilateral relations ever since.
